Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I signed up for the Amazon.com store card, as it offered an interest-free special financing deal for 12 months, which seemed like a smart way to make an investment in new tools for the business. I made the purchases over time time period -/-/-. I then received a bill over the - Holiday, over which I was out of town and then slammed working 12 hour days. When I finally had a moment to check bills, I saw that Amazon had issued a bill that somehow had a due date of -/-/2016 - less than 30 days after the purchase was made, giving nearly no time to pay the bill before the account went delinquent, a late fee was charged, the special financing turned into penalty financing, and collections agents began calling me. To me, that is a predatory lending practice that utterly violates the 30-day rule on credit card billing for consumer purposes in the United States. I will be closing this account and never doing business with Synchrony Bank / Amazon again. However, I would also like the CFPB to look into this case very closely, as I believe this may be a predatory lending institution out to fleece larger numbers of unsuspecting Amazon customers, with no intent of ever sticking to fair and honorable business practices.
