Equifax Credit Reporting Complaint

Credit reporting company's investigation no notice of investigation status/result

Equifax Credit reporting department,

Credit reporting company's investigation No notice of investigation status/result Florida

I 'm filing this complaint after being advised by my Aunt who is an -. She stated the the CFPB would be the best place to file a complaint and if no resolution is made she would refer me to the US Attorney who can assist me. On - - I pulled my credit report and noticed an account from - - - that I did not recognize. It was listed as a charge-off in the amount of $0.00. I immediately typed up a dispute letter and requested to have account validated with documents bearing my signature. I mailed this letter to the address that was listed on my credit report. I continued to track the letter only to find that the document was deliverable and would be returned to me. I double checked my credit report again and resent the letter believing that maybe I made a mistake the first time. The 2nd letter came back as undelivered. Once the second letter came back as deliverable, I sent a dispute to Equifax requesting that they validate the debt not verify the debt. I asked for proof bearing my signature. I received a notice in - from

a debt. I specifically asked for proof bearing my signature as I have had identity theft issues in the past and have provided Equifax with the police report. I finally got fed up of the dispute process with Equifax and decided to contact - - - directly. I spoke with - who advised me that she could not provide me with information regarding the alleged account because this account was sold to - and that I should contact them at -. I explained to her that - is not reporting on my credit report and that I need - - - to send me something with my signature. She again stated that she could not provide me with this information as they no longer have my alleged file in their possession. In addition I asked - why is it that I 'm not able to send mail to them, she asked me for the address that I mailed the documents to which I provided to her. She stated that the address that 's reporting on my credit report is incorrect and that the correct address is - - -, - CA - ( this is not the address on my credit report ). How is it that Equifax after multiple requests for validation have been able to verify this alleged debt as belonging to me when the address that they have on file is inaccurate? Who did they speak with and how were they able to contact - - -? After multiple disputes I am at my last straw as the Equifax continues to verify the debt but has yet to validate the debt based on the FCRA. I 'm currently involved in a large group with over - individuals on - - who have experienced the same treatment. As mentioned earlier my Aunt who is an - explained that if CFPB can not assist, she is willing to refer me to the US Attorney who can assist in a class action lawsuit. I will pursue this to the highest extent as this is unfair treatment. I do not recognize this debt and do not believe that this debt belongs to me and no one can show me proof that this belongs to me with documents bearing my signature so that I can validate this debt for myself and find out the source of the charge off. This is the CB job when a consumer requests to have a debt validated.
