I have a credit card with Lowe 's. I received my bill due -/-/- that included a regular purchase I made for $120.00 along with a remaining balance on a promotional amount of $190.00 ( due in full by -/-/2016 ). I made an on time payment of $150.00 through their automated system. I recently received my statement that is due on -/-/- and I notice an interest charge for -. I did n't understand why this had occurred considering the payment I made covered the purchase of $120.00 and the minimum payment of $25.00. I contacted Lowe 's credit card on -/-/2016 and the agent told me that the interest was charged to my account because it applied the bulk of my payment to the promotional amount since it was coming up on its maturity. I explained to the agent that it should be applied to the charge that would be assessed the interest first which would have been my regular purchase not my promotional amount. She disagreed and said it was a system decision. Unfortunately, the system is wrong in choosing how I want my payment applied. She informed me that I would have had to call back to tell an agent how I wanted my payment allocated. This is absurd to assume the payment would be applied this way and very sneaky on their part. I also noticed this must have happy at some other point this year and I did n't catch it. They charged me $1.00 at some point assuming for the same thing. This is criminal. If I do n't pay the promotional amount by the payoff date then I should be charged whatever interest I deserve to be charged. Those are the terms I agreed to. Nothing else. The agent did refund me the $2.00 interest but I would like the $1.00 back and for them to change their practices or I will not continue to utilize their card. I have utilized other promotional offers with other companies and nothing like this has happened before.
