Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
In - 2016 was charged an over limit fee on - of our business credit cards held with Wells Fargo. I spoke with someone directly at my branch asking if there was a way I can instead just have transactions declined instead of the over limit fee being automatically applied. I was told this was not an option. I have been charged $39.00 for going over the limit a few times since, and after - in - I called to speak with someone and again was told there was no option to opt out of over limit fees. However, this is contradictory to information I have read on this site that states Consumers must " opt in '' to over-limit fees. Those who opt out will have their transactions rejected if they exceed their credit limits, thus avoiding over-limit fees. I would like to know why Wells Fargo is NOT allowing for this option. ( They did refund the fee charged in - ). So far this year, including the - charge, this - card has been charged $190.00 for going over the limit, $39.00 each time. I would also like to confirm that the fee can not exceed the amount that has actually gone over the limit, as also stated on this website.
