Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I have a JC Penney store card ( not - or - ). I took advantage of a deferred 18 month no interest promotion which expires on -. When I have current month activity they apply my payments to the promotion first so I incur interest for the current payments each month. I pay enough each month to cover the current charges and make additional payments to pay down the promotion balance. When I make a web ( or check payment ) there is no system or mechanism to designate how I want to have the payment applied. I called customer service and it took 5 minutes to go through the voice response unit ( wo n't let you opt out for a representative ) to reach a live agent and go through the ID questions to talk to an agent. The agent said after I make each monthly payment each month ( 60 minutes a year - 12 payments x 5 minutes ) I would have to call customer service to direct how I want my payment applied. This is a whole lot of hassle. My wife wants me to payoff the credit card ( lose the remaining benefit of the promotion ) and destroy the credit card. We will stop buying anything from JC Penney at all ( we do n't have these problems with - -, Lowes or - on their interest free promotions ). We also received an unsolicited JC Penney VISZ or MC which we did not activate and shredded.
