Several years ago we opened a savings account at Wells Fargo because we already had a business checking account there. We were surprised to learn that we would also have to open a checking account and credit cards. We did n't want this, but our savings account was contingent on agreeing to these services. Was it legal for the bank to make this mandatory if we wanted a savings account? The maintenance fees, etc. just ate away at our resources.
