I received a collection notice from an agency stating I owed a debt to a company that I have an active/current account with. I called them about the letter, stated I have no outstanding balances with them. They agreed, told me to " disregard '' the notice from the agency. I told them I can not because this needs to be resolved before this reports to my credit. A ticket number was created, I followed up in one week as they requested. When I called, I was told a note on my account states, '' disregard collection notice. account is in good standing ''. I told him that will not suffice and that I need something in writing from them or the debt collection agency. I was told to call the agency directly. I did that same day. A rep said I will need to dispute in writing. I did so by fax, requesting them to validate the debt with an invoice, final bill, etc. None was ever received from them. Today, I get an alert from my credit monitoring company that this debt has shown up on my - file. I immediately called the original creditor, Comast, and explained this situation. I gave the previous ticket number. I was told nothing is owed. I asked the rep to call collection agency on 3-way and let them know I do not owe this. He claimed he would create yet another ticket for them to " research '' this. - nor the collection agency have been able to validate this debt that I do not owe.
