Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem with fraud alerts Nevada
I was a victim of identity theft and requested that TransUnion place a security freeze on my consumer credit report. I sent TransUnion my request along with documentation of my identity and status as a victim of identity theft that satisfied the statutory requirements of my state of residence, Nevada. TransUnion would not place the security freeze on my report, stating that my documentation was insufficient. TransUnion was and still is incorrect in their assertion, as in my previous complaint, it was clearly outlined what the statutory requirements were to be considered a victim of identity theft in the State of Nevada and all documentation submitted to TransUnion complied with Nevada Revised Statutes for having a security freeze placed on my consumer credit report. Furthermore, as a victim of identity theft, TransUnion is barred from charging me a fee to place the security freeze, to temporarily lift the security freeze, or to remove the security freeze. However, when I attempt to temporarily lift the security freeze from my TransUnion report, TransUnion is requiring I pay a $10.00 fee, in violation of Nevada Revised Statutes. TransUnion only complied with the law requiring them to place the security freeze because of a CFPB complaint. However, TransUnion is still violating Nevada Law by attempting to charge me a $10.00 fee to have the security freeze temporarily removed. As I have stated to TransUnion and in my CFPB complaint, my documentation fully complies with the requirements of the laws of the State of Nevada. TransUnion has yet to respond directly to my messages and complaints, or to point out which Nevada Revised Statute with which my previously submitted documentation fails to comply.
