Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
SYNCHRONY BANK offered to upgrade my Paypal Smart connect to a Paypal Extras Mastercard. According to all paperwork given, the new account would have all my account history transferred over. My old Paypal SC account has been closed on my credit report and a new account for the Mastercard open with a new account date of - - instead of - -. This has caused my credit score to drop as it looks like i have sought and received new credit when infact it is the same credit line as before but under a different product type. As such, this violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which requires the bank to report only accurate information. Stating that i have opened a new account, when in fact i have not. I could understand if i initiated the upgrade, however the bank did and not me.
