Checking account Account opening, closing, or management Washington
- -, First Citizens Bank has an advertisement on line, in their website https : //www.firstcitizens.com, where there is a bonus of - for opening a new checking account. However, it does n't say that the checking account is subject to credit approval. After I fill out all my information, at the end, I was denied. I thought maybe they needed more information like my Driver License and proof of address etc. However, today I received an alert, that yesterday - - Bank checked on my - credit bureau. It is an usual or not a common practice for a - bank to measure credit exposure when a client is not requesting a lending product. It is uncommon to be subject to a credit risk check for a checking account, and more important to not disclose that as part of the application process. It is deceiving that their website does n't disclose that First Citizens Bank checking account products are subject to credit approval. I believe that is in violation of the fair lending act and it constitutes an unfair and deceptive banking practice. The website withhold material information that if I would have known right upfront I was going to be subject to credit approval for a checking account, it would have affected my decision to apply and I would n't have applied.
