Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.) Communication tactics Threatened to take legal action Texas

- - in North Carolina submitted my account to a collection agency Interstate Credit Collections before sending me a final bill after I requested services be discontinued due to moving out of state. My next bill would have been due on -/-/2016. The collection notice arrived with a date of -/-/2016. A - representative verified that they did have my forwarding address, but that it is their policy to turn accounts over to the collection agency within 72 hours of the date due. The date of my bill from collection agency is the same date the bill would have been due, not 72 hours. - did not mail a final bill to me prior to submitting it to collections. This would appear to be an illegal practice. I have paid the bill in full, but - indicates that it is not their responsibility to remove it from collections. I notified Interstate Credit Collections today that the bill has been paid in full to - directly. They have assured me that this will not affect my credit. However I have no reason to believe this. - - should not be able to submit consumers to collection before providing them a final

I will now have to chase this with the credit bureaus to ensure that it has n't affected my credit. Both businesses have assured me that it wo n't. However the collection agency could not verify that I 've paid - - because they say - needs to submit it as paid to them. - tells me they ca n't remove the account from the collection agency even though it is paid in full. So where does this leave the consumer? I hope you can help me confirm this is n't on our credit as we are purchasing a home!
