Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.) Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Georgia
We were forced to terminate a residential lease early due to a death in the family in 2013. The leasing company tried to negotiate for us to pay for the house until they re-rented it - we did not agree, however, they proceeded as if we did. We paid two months rent, plus they kept our deposit, and instead of applying it to the termination fee, they tried to collect two additional months of rent and a cleaning fee. We have refused to pay it, since it was incorrectly calculated. They have refused to discuss it with us, maintaining it " meets FCRA requirements ''. Now, their most recent antic is to change the date on the report, so it looks like we started paying on it - we have not, nor have we negotiated any kind of settlement. The inconsistency of their reporting across the - bureaus alone disqualifies this debt from meeting FCRA requirements. Their failure to provide any written proof of the debt is another.
