Amex Credit card department,
In - 2016 I received a letter from American Express ( Amex ) indicating that beginning - -, 2016 the APR % rate would rise to 14.49 % for purchases going forward. I called the - number listed on the letter to ask whether the increase would be to the Fed Gov't raising the interest rates and I was advised yes and I also asked if I would be able to negotiate the APR % at that time and I was further advised yes. I thought no more of it until -/-/- when I received my statement to indicate the increase in the APR % rate and again I called the - number and spoke to - women in - who were - very rude and was advised I should seek " credit counseling and I would not be able to negotiate the APR % rate at that time ''. I then wrote to Senator - in - indicating my story and my phone calls and asking for his help. I did in turn copy Amex as well as - - of the Fed Reserve in -, - Just today I had another conversation with - a supervisor in the - I.D . # - indicating that he would not negotiate with me at this time. I then asked if in the future I would be able to negotiate the interest rate and he further advised " no ''. Disgusted yes, most definitely because earlier in the day I spoke to an - again in - ( I did not get an ID # ) and he indicated he would give me -/-/- APR % of $54.00 as a credit. - indicated that there WERE NO NOTES ON THIS CONVERSATION I HAD WITH - THIS AM.!!!!!!!
