Incorrect information on credit report Information is not mine Florida

There are - credit inquiries on our credit report dated the same date. - of the inquiries came from short term loan cash provider. The - came from some sort of credit bureau presumably used by the - entity. I have spoken with the short term loan cash provider describing my circumstances. They indicated to me that they have no information on me on file which suggested to them that someone attempted to get a loan using our name and possibly our social security number but were rejected before the official application process. Both inquiries show up on our credit report but they were not related to activity generated by me or by my wife. So, we are nervous that at least one person may have some form of our identity but we are not sure which information or how much information they may have. The date of the inquiries was - -, 2016 and there has not been any further unknown activity since that date.
