Checking account Account opening, closing, or management Florida
I brought my checking account to a $0.00 balance and then called customer service to close my account. First they refused to close it over the phone and said I was required to go into a branch if - is within - miles from my home. When I looked up a location there was not a local branch so the customer service rep told me to fax a letter to - to deposit operations with my full name, account number, and current address along with my signature and they would close the account. I faxed the letter and then called customer service to confirm they received it. They did confirm it was sent but then said a letter was mailed to me and I need to get my signature notarized and sent back to them in order to close the account. I have had many accounts at other banks that never required this much to close an account. It appears they are just trying to make it very difficult in order to retain clients but with this kind of customer service I will be happy when my account is finally closed.
