Synchrony Financial Credit Card Complaint

Balance transfer

Synchrony Financial Credit card department,

Balance transfer California

I opened up a credit card with TJ Maxx. My billing cycle for the month of - ended on - -, 2016, and my balance for - was $150.00. ( Statement 1 ). On - -, 2016, per my auto payment agreement, money was drawn from my bank account, but it was only for $100.00. ( Statement 2 ). So I called the TJ Maxx customer service and asked them to explain the discrepancy to me. And they said that they arrived at $100.00 by subtracting my return of $87.00 and then adding $38.00. ( $150.00 - $87.00 + $38.00 = $100.00 ). I told them the new purchase of $38.00 was made on - -, 2016 which was after my billing cycle ended. However, they said that since my true balance without the new purchase ( $150.00 - $87.00 = $63.00 ) is lower than my original balance ( $150.00 ), they just added my new purchase even though it was made after my billing cycle ended. However, TJ Maxx had no right to do so. First, it is a breach of contract because the contract states " You must pay at least the total minimum payment due on your account by - ( ET ) on the due date of each billing cycle. '' What they charged me was my entire outstanding balance, not the minimum payment, and some of my outstanding balance are not due until sometime in -. More importantly, it is a deceptive practice. I did not expect and certainly should not be required to pay for a purchase made after my billing cycle ended. However, a representative of the customer center confirmed me that this is how they charge their customers, and they will do it again if my true balance is lower than my statement balance. So clearly, they have this practice of charging customers before the due date, and it is not right. I have attached all the documents to support my claim and am willing to provide further information if necessary.
