I received a preapproval offer in the mail from Avant. I decided to apply online with the preapproval code they gave me and was informed based on my credit ( they pulled online during application process ) I was approved for -. I did not need - but applied for - instead. They asked me for my personal bank account information such as account number and routing number. I thought this was a bit odd but I complied. For the next several days the website informed me that my documentation was in process. I received several phone calls from them asking me the same questions ad nauseum. I found this a bit unprofessional and lends to my reason for filing this report. This morning I received a denial. I 've been denied before, but I am a little concerned when a bank asks me pertinent information with regard to me bank account without actually approving me. I am inquiring as to whether or not this is a standard banking practice. If not, what are my options.
