Wells Fargo Credit card department,
Dillard 's I had a $0.00 balance in -, bought - presents in - which totaled $120.00. Payment is due -/-/16. Logged into my account to pay the bill on -/-/16 and it showed " No Recent Transactions '' but a balance of $150.00. I called to ask why the $25.00 difference and was told " The system automatically puts a late fee on your account, if your payment is n't made by the due date. '' I said, " But today is the due date, it 's not late until after - ( It was - ). " If I was n't paying attention, I would have paid you an additional $25.00 that I do not owe you. '' Then she told me " that 's how the system works '' and got very short with me, so I hung up. Bottom line, Dillard 's is charging a late payment on an account that 's just due today. It does n't seem legal to assess a late fee to an account that is still within the payment due date window. I always pay directly to the Dillard 's site, by my due date. It makes me question how many other times I 've been charged a " late fee '' when I was well within my payment window. Their " system '' should not be tacking on a late fee until after - on the date due. **Also, there was nothing on the statement that shows the addition of a $25.00 charge or what it 's for, it just got added to the balance.
