I have a contract with Wells Fargo Bank for an automobile loan and have been making more than the required payment sine day - - 2013 ). My monthly payment is made automatically through my online banking account and has never been late. However, every once in a while I get a monthly statement for more than the amount on the contract, but it is not due for some - to three months later while the current overpayment is still being made automatically every month through my bank. It appears that Wells Fargo is not taking the money from my monthly overpayment and applying it to the principal, but is applying the excess amount to future payments and holding those funds until that payment is due thusly, I am paying interest on the remaining balance of the loan and not the decreasing balance if they were to apply the excess payment to the principal loan balance. This seems highly unethical to hold my money and wait for a payment to be due rather than applying it to the principal balance every month and decreasing the monthly amount that I am paying interest on. There is no place on the monthly statement to fill in any amount of additional principal included in the payment. Thank you ...
