On -/-/- I opened and a SECURED self-funded credit card with $400.00 at a Wells Fargo Bank. I never used the card. I did pay the annual $25.00 fee. On -/-/- I phoned Wells Fargo and cancelled the card. It was agreed that I had never used the card and had authorized no recurring charges to occur on the card. The balance ( minus the annual fee ) was intact. I was told that it would take 45 to 60 to release my money. I find the 45-60 day delay in refunding me unacceptable as the card was immediately voided and as it was a secured self-funded credit card had no liability to Wells Fargo Bank ever. Wells Fargo 's written terms for holding the the balance states it is " to cover transactions that may be posted to the credit card account after it is closed '' which makes no sense. I would appreciate CFPB to investigate this practice at Wells Fargo bank.
