Vehicle lease Taking out the loan or lease

Vehicle lease Taking out the loan or lease California

I got into a collision with my brand new 2 months - -. My - - insurance called the car being totaled so they were getting information with - - for the payoff amount. Since it was only 2 months old, I understood that the car was upside down, so I would need to come up with some money to settle the whole thing, which was also what - - Claim adjuster said to me as well. I thought since I was getting another Toyota, I could negotiate that part when I get the new car. However, a few days later, my Claim adjuster came back and said good new, Toyota accepted their pay off amount and I was actually going to get a little money back even after - - taking my deductible. I was happy, signed the paper work with - -, got the check and I went and leased another Toyota Prius, because I needed a car. Almost 1 month later, I received a letter from Toyota Finance saying that I owe them money because the settlement was not enough to pay off my lease. And they were going to charge off that amount and report to

they still demanded the money or they would report me. I knew about the difference, and was going to negotiate it with Toyota when I was going to get the - Prius. But since they told - - that they accepted it, and - - even thought the whole thing was closed, and wrote me a check, I did not negotiate that part of the difference when I leased a new car. What Toyota did, accepting first and went after me later, took away my chance of negotiating, which was really unfair. Now the fact that they are demanding the difference in full with no opportunity for me to ask for a discount or payment plan is really predatory practice. Please help.
