Wells Fargo Credit card department,
Hello, I am writing to submit a complaint against Wells Fargo, a company that provided me with a credit card and has charged me with - time interest despite the fact I contacted this company in trying to avoid this charge. In - of - I acquired a credit card at the store, - and -. The card was provided by Wells Fargo, and according to the terms of the credit card, no interest would be charged for my purchases for up to a year. Since - of -, I made monthly payments to the credit card. In - of - I was notified that the card was no longer valid, since - and - cancelled their agreement with Wells Fargo. This meant that I could no longer use the card, which was contrary to the contract signed by me. I did not care about this ;
been late I was charged $240.00 in interest. This increased my debt from $390.00 to $680.00. On - -, - I called Wells Fargo trying to explain that missing my payment had been an honest mistake, and that I had totally forgot the deadline. During this phone call I expressed my willingness to pay my remaining balance ( which was close to $400.00 ) in trying to avoid the interest payment. I also reminded the people of Wells Fargo that this account was not of any service to me going beyond -, since the card had been cancelled in -. I naively thought that since we were still within the month of -, the people of Wells Fargo could at least show some understanding and offer a reasonable solution. Yet, after half an hour on the phone and having spoken with - different representatives from Wells Fargo - -, -, and - - - - - -, I was only offered a reduction of - dollars. According to Wells Fargo Representatives this was the only help they could offer. I am writing this complaint hoping you could stop this company from applying such unfair interest to customers such as me, who despite being late by a couple of days, made monthly payments throughout a year. I am appalled by the lack of understanding of companies like Wells Fargo, who can change the terms of a credit card when they want, but would not extend the same understanding or courtesy to their customers. I believe this practice to be unfair, arbitrary, and capricious. As a result of simple, brief mistake my balance - on the eve of being paid off - almost doubled. I understand if nothing can be done to help me, but I honestly hope you can look into this so that other less fortunate individuals avoid getting trap by Wells Fargo 's arbitrary practices. Thank you - -
