I was two days late paying my American Express card bill. They charged me a late fee of $27.00 plus interest of $86.00. That much I can accept. However, I paid the next statement on time, and they charged me an additional $90.00. They call this " trailing interest '' and say this is in their cardholder agreement. $200.00 for being two days late seems excessive. I feel cheated, especially since my payment record has been otherwise perfect since 1999. My FICO score is more than -.
