I had a credit card with Wells Fargo. I previously owed - $ on it. I paid that off a few months ago. I thought I had paid off the entire debt but apparently owed - $ in interest. This was not showing up in my online accounts as being still owed. Eventually I got a letter from Wells Fargo saying they were closing my credit card account and sending the - $ which was now - $ to credit reporting agencies. I have had about - $ in my Wells Fargo checking account the whole time. I called Wells Fargo because my credit card account is still showing - balance. The lady I spoke with said she was requesting this to be dropped. I got a letter about 2-3 weeks ago saying Wells Fargo had researched it and their information was correct. They were reporting it to credit reporting agencies. I called again today and spoke with someone who said he was going to remove the problem from credit reporting agencies because the debt of - $ was based on interest. I do n't understand that. I asked why they did n't just pay the remaining balance from my checking account. He said that his department could not take payments from me. Nobody has offered to reinstate my credit card. I am very frustrated. Incidentally I also have a mortgage with Wells Fargo. I have been thinking of trying to refinance with a different company because I do n't trust or like Wells Fargo. Perhaps they are trying to make my credit worse so I can not refinance the loan, although they are so huge, there would be no reason for them to care about my measly - mortgage. Please assist. I would like for them to reinstate my credit card.
