In - of this year, I received notification from my bank, Wells Fargo , NA, that my safe deposit box fees were increasing from $ - to $ - ( minus a $5.00 discount, to total $ -. I inquired on line with their customer service as this was more than a 40 % increase and I had not changed the size of the box. My reply from them on - -, 2015, was that they could not help me but to contact my local branch. I went to the local branch and was told by - of the tellers that they had not heard about the increase in fees but I should speak with the branch manager who was out that day to see if there was anything they could do. They promised to have her call me the next day when she returned. I waited several days but she did not call me. I went to the branch about a week later and said that no one had called me. They promised to have her call me again. I never did hear from her or anyone else from the branch. I would like to know if this experience is typical and can banks charge these outrageous fees with no recourse to the customer other than moving my business? I am seriously considering moving my business but my credit union has a six month wait list for new customers lock boxes.
