JPMorgan Chase Credit card department,
I applied for a Chase Saphire Credit Card on line and included the amount I wanted to transfer from another card. I received a call verifying that I had applied and once the caller identified me and ensured I was the applicant, they told me I was qualified for the card. I was never told the credit limit and since I had indicated the amount I wished to transfer, I did not ask. I received a letter a week or so later stating that around - % of the amount requested had been transfered and that the credit limit was about - % of the total of the amount requested. I called to ask them to reverse the transfer and delete my ever having had this card as I know that any application for credit is shown on your credit history. I also asked why I was not told about the amount of the transfer and credit limit. I was asked if I was told this information and I said no and they told me they would have to look into the matter. In the meantime, my credit rating has dropped almost - points from excellent to fair as a result of the new credit card. I have had excellent credit for a decade having restored it myself from a lesser rating. I have never reneged on my debts nor do I intend to now. I simply wanted to reduce the amount I pay in interest each month so I can pay this debt off more quickly.
