Cashing a check without an account Deposits and withdrawals Illinois

I was issued a checked by my employer that was drawn off a Wells Fargo bank account. I went to the bank to cash it at the Wells Fargo location on - in -, IL. The personal banker left me sitting for over an hour to come back and tell me they have never seen a check And the check was fraudulent. I said how can you say that? He said we are confiscating this check for further review but as it stands it 's not real. I was treated like a common thief. I was made to feel because I was - - that I could n't possibly be cashing a - check. He gave me his card I emailed my employer and the company that is our payroll processor and included him on the email to them about the incident. They all replied the check was a valid check and not sure why Wells Fargo treated me the way they did. All week I never heard from WF even though they were on the emails regarding the chk. My employer went ahead and stopped pay on the check to get the funds to me and reissued as a direct deposit. I get an email today from a manager telling me in an email that they reviewed the check and that the check had a stopped pay on the check. He was implying I brought the check in when I knew it had a stop pay on it. That just was n't the case the check did not get stopped until after I notified my employer of the foul treatment and WF keeping the check and still a week later still implying I am a common thief.
