In - i lost my job. I continued to pay my chase credit card until -. In - i could no longer pay my card and no longer made payments. In - i recieved a letter from chase saying i was released from my debt. I later recieved a - from chase for - for the debt forgiveness. I paid my taxes on what was now reguarded as income by the IRS. I just recently applied for a home mortgage and my bank application came back with the - debt from chase listed ... .i contacted chase and was told the debt had been cleared and they did n't want any payment but because the debt was not paid in full by me it will remain on my credit report. If the debt was cleared and i recieved a -, effectively changing the debt to income, how can it remain as a debt on my credit report? Chase will not even accept payment and my mortgage application is now in jeapordy..
