Wells Fargo Credit card department,
Our small business signed up for a business bank account. With it, came a credit card for no additional fee '' as quoted by our Wells Fargo Banker. A year later, the card gets hit with a $50.00 Rewards Membership Fee, a program to which we never opted in. After discussing with a representative, the program auto-renews every year without notice, and requires that the account holder call and opt-out of the program to avoid a $50.00 annual membership fee. This is just an example of the deceiving practices still used by banks and credit card bureaus. Luckily no money was ever spent on the card, so we noticed this, but applying the automatic renewal charges like this to a business card is sneaky and an easy way for banks to collect additional revenue. The bank removed this charge as a courtesy '' but did n't view this as it 's responsibility.
