Wells Fargo Credit card department,
On a recent visit to my local Wells Fargo branch - where I only wished to have my PIN updated on my debit card - I was offered '' the opportunity to apply for their Wells Fargo - - card. Though I was n't particularly interested, the branch agent stressed how the - card would offer a great chance for a lot lower interest rate than your other cards '' which I had said averaged 13.6 %. Fine, I thought, and applied right there through the agent who was entering my application on his system. A few days after the application was made ( with a credit score of - and a verifiable income of $80000.00 ) my online banking Wells Fargo account added the following card to my account list:1. Wells Fargo Platinum ( not the - card the agent said I was applying for ) 2. A credit limit of $50000.00. An interest rate of 22.5 %, following the
; and the interest rate ( that is nearly double any of my other cards ). After first contacting the agent ( a - - - to voice my complaints, I was pushed up the ladder to an - -, the Regional Banking District Manager, Vice President- Colorado - - ''. - assured me that he would look into the matter, and that he would be pushing the case further up the line. A few days later, I noticed that the account 's credit limit had been increased to $14000.00, but the account remained a Platinum card account with the 22 % + interest rate. Once again, this was offered to a long time Wells customer ( 20+ years ) with a - credit score and verifiable income. I next received a call from Wells Premium Card Services '' and was abruptly told by an agent named -, your card will remain a Platinum with 22 % interest rate, and no, there is no one else to discuss this with because how we have arrived at that decision is confidential ''. So that was it : bait-and-switched by Wells Fargo with no further explanation, and taking the hit on my credit report for making the application in the first place.
