My husband and I relocated to - from - in 2013. We lived in an apartment while we were house hunting. Our apartment lease was up in - 2013 and we signed a home lease to begin - 2013. We moved out of our apartment -/-/- and returned our - - 'box ' to the local center. We both walked in and handed it to the - - employee. We asked if there was anything else we needed to do to cancel services, and he said, Nope, you are good. '' We forwarded our address to our new home, and almost two years later, my husband received a call from a debt collector stating that we owed $100.00 because the box was never returned ( we canceled our service and switched to - when we moved ) - and accused us of


the loan process to buy a home, and our banker said that the - - credit hit knocked our score down - points and we will not qualify for our home loan. Our banker has encouraged us to go back to - - and argue this debt '' ( which we paid the first time we received a phone call ). After talking to - customer service agents yesterday, they have no record '' of our account and can not help us. It seems absurd to me that a company can literally ruin a family 's credit without any proof of our wrongdoing. Again, the debt '' was $100.00 and we would have paid six times that amount to keep our credit history in tact. Now, we are faced with not being able to buy a home for our family of -. Please advise. This should be illegal!
