I am writing this letter on behalf of my daughter. My daughter had gotten into a financial bind. She is - and has always tried to be independent. Feeling ashamed of her situation, made the decision to seek help from her bank, Wells Fargo, instead of coming to myself for assistance. She has attended school part-time for the last two years to be accepted to a - program. We found out in - that a spot had been secured for her at - - University. This is the same school she attended and received a - in - and - -. She is intelligent, hardworking, and motivated. Unfortunately, she is not well educated in the world of finances or banking. I found out about her finances when I was trying to organize a budget for us when she returns to school in -. The help that Wells Fargo gave her left her in a position that she would not be able to get out of for the rest of her life. This started when they told her she had to keep a balance of $1500.00 in her checking account. This would be impossible for her and seems it would be

up for also carry an annual fee of $25.00. She makes her minimum payments. The interest being charged every month is more than her payment. I realize she signed these agreements, but did so reluctantly. The person helping her even stated to her that she looked uncomfortable doing this ''. She had no idea what any of the interest rates meant or of the charges that went along with cash advances. I tried going into the bank with her and was told there was nothing they could do since she signed the agreements already. However, they were willing to run her credit again to see if they could get her yet another loan. I went on their website and not even being a customer ( which she has been since it was owned by Wachovia ) ; I can get a credit card with a balance transfer at 0 % interest and accounts that have no annual fee. They advertise all kinds of help for students. I am wondering why she was not offered any of that help. I do n't even know of a bank that does n't offer free checking and savings accounts ( well, now I do ). I have now exhausted all my avenues and put my credit in an unsatisfactory light trying to get her out of this mess. She is unable to get any other financial help in terms of loans for school due to the fact her credit is now maxed out. I am appalled and beside myself that a bank would do this to someone. I feel an obligation to let every unsuspecting and unaware individual know that this financial institution is not there to help anyone, but only for their own gain.
