Dear CFPB : Resurgent Capital Services keeps trying to collect on an old, already-repaid credit card debt. I repaid this credit card debt in - 2006! Unfortunately, the original collection agency never reported my debt as repaid to the - main credit reporting bureaus. Today, Resurgent Capital Services called - of my relatives and left a threatening, creepy '' message for me on his answering machine. This is totally illegal! Resurgent should not be harassing my relatives or friends! They should not be leaving threatening messages! I already sent Resurgent - letter, via certified mail, stating that I had repaid the debt in 2006. In addition, - - - and - - both stated they were no longer going to try to collect on the debt, as it had already been repaid. That is why I was very surprised to hear I had received a threatening message today from Resurgent Capital Services.
