Closing/Cancelling account Maryland
I opened up a private label credit card with Wells Fargo Bank for the -. This account had a $1400.00. credit limit and was opened in - 2013. Purchases were made on the card in - and - 2013. All payments were made on time, and the account was paid in full. I went to use the account in the last week and discovered that it was closed unilaterally by Well Fargo. This was without any prior notice, or without any negative action on my part. When I called them up, they told me that the account was closed due to - months inactivity. 'I was informed that if I wanted to, I could re-apply for the card in person at - of the - - locations. The closest location is - minutes away from where I live, and there is no ability to apply online. There was no notice of this 18 month requirement in either the consumer credit agreement I signed, nor their current agreement. This has had an impact on my credit as it has reduced my available credit. I feel this was an arbitrary and capricious action on their part, as well as a poor customer service action.
