- relentlessly called my cell phone and left voicemails not once stating it was to collect a debt, but that legal action had been taken against me and that I needed to return their call to prevent further legal action. When I did not return these calls, they managed to find the phone numbers of all of my immediate family members, and then continued to leave harassing voicemails for them as well stating similar legal courses. When I finally called in, I was told my number was no longer in service, although I had not and still have not changed phone numbers, and that although they mailed a letter to my old address ( I had moved cities for a new position ), family members ( or what they will call References '' ) were their last resort. I was told they had no other manner in reaching me, even though they verified my email address without my needing to even provide it in the first place. So essentially, they had more than two ways of contacting me in attempt to


themselves during every communication. Notify the consumer that the communication is from a debt collector. Give the name and address of the original creditor. Notify the consumer of the right to dispute. Provide verification of debt. None of this information was provided to me until I called - MONTHS after relentless harassment. Had I known from the beginning it was an attempt to collect $100.00, I would have called sooner, however from the initial contact, where not even my name was given ( voicemails only stated message was for Name, Name '' ), all I knew was legal action was being taken against Name, Name '' and that I needed to return the call right away.
