Vehicle loan Problems when you are unable to pay California

I no longer owe this money to lobel they sold it to a third party .so if they sold it how can I how them.i have contected lobell and they have no info.all they tell me is it was sold to a third party what does that mean it has been on my credit report as wrong info I also notifed my credit report agencys they do n't help..
