Amex Credit card department,
APR or interest rate Wisconsin
I realized - day after a payment was due that I had not paid my card. I went online to pay the balance and noticed that they had already put a late fee and interest on my account. I always pay the balance due. I called them to see if they would waive the fees and they said they would waive the late fee but not the interest. Although I was not really satisfied I realized I made a mistake and accepted that I had to pay the interest. I paid the balance the day after it was due. I then signed up for autopay to pay the future balances so I would not be late again. My following month was paid then when I received another bill there was interested on the bill again. I called for an explanation and they said that since it was late the - time then the interest charge was automatically placed again. I explained that even if they wanted to claim that, the balance I paid was $570.00 and the interest being charged for - day was $10.00. That would come to 54 % interest. She claimed there was a basic interest charge regardless. I also spoke to her Supervisor and she also refused to budge. I told them that if the $10.00 was not waived I would cancel the card, which I intend to do after I pay the current balance. I still disagree with their practices and told them I was going to file a complaint.
