Medical Taking/threatening an illegal action Threatened to sue on too old debt New York
On -/-/-, my father, a physically - - year old man with - to his private residence by - - - -, - - -, -, NY -, ( - ) -. - denied payment for this service, although they had covered - on several prior occasions. On -/-/-, we appealed the - decision. On -/-/- - denied our appeal, but determined that - - - - was responsible for the charges. In the meantime, - - - - had referred this account to the - - - - - -, - - - -, -, NY -, ( - ) -. I informed all parties of the - decision and that my father was not responsible for the charges. - -, of - - - - - - contacted me and asked me to file a - appeal as their client, - - - -, could not. This was a lie ; - has since informed me that - - - - could have filed *and possibly did file - their own appeal. Certainly, - - was aware of this. Not knowing this and assuming - - was being honest, I filed a - appeal with - on -/-/-. While awaiting the results of the - appeal, - - - - sent my father a letter threatening to take him to court. - informed us in a letter -/-/-, that not only were they denying the appeal, but they reversed their earlier decision and my father is now liable for the charges. I had no idea that the appeal could result in a worse decision, although I am quite certain that - -, as a collections professional, did. - says we should not have filed the - appeal and that our only option is to either pay or go before an administrative law judge. I believe - - knowingly gave me false information and took advantage of my willingness to help to get me to file a - appeal. This is highly unethical behavior. Preying on - and their families must be the most despicable behavior possible.
