My husband died - years ago. He took a Home Equity Loan from Chase. After his death I continued to pay interest only as was the original agreement. As soon as the payments were converted to interest and amortization, it more than - the payment. I could not afford this change and was unable to continue my payments. I have made repeated attempts to contact Chase, without success. I even went down to a branch to show the Death Certificate and Estate docs, so I could speak to anyone who could help with a loan modification. Again, I was unsuccessful. I am trying to honor my husband 's debt, but ca n't get anyone to speak with me in order to restructure so I can afford to repay.
