Credit card Communication tactics Called after sent written cease of comm Illinois
I had my Home Depot credit card stolen ( 2007 ) and used by someone else. I had all the police reports to indicate this. Home Depot refused to see the issue and said it was my fault the card was stolen. So, they kept me liable for the charges. I disputed every call I got. - days ago, I got a call from my daughter-in-law, who is an - of the court that she received a very harassing phone call to have her give them my number. She refused but took down the information so I could call and find out what this was all about. The man I spoke to was threatening to take me to court if I did n't pay the outstanding balance owed even though it was fraud. He did not give me a chance to speak to my lawyer, altho he knew I had a lawyer involved in the case and should have called him instead of me. I was never given a chance to show my documentation and was told I had to pay right away or go to court. He had me sobbing and scared. He said just take care of this
being recorded ) she, -, told me there was no recording of the call. I called - again today to ask her to send me the file they have on my case and she said she would have to check with her manager to see if they can send me the file. So, after being harrassed, my daughter-in-law being harassed, they have no intention of sharing with me the proof that I owe the money. - - was called in to a meeting yesterday ( per - ) to discuss how he handled the case, and subsequently resigned. So I am now hold - - - liable for unfair practices. 1. my daughter in law was contacted at her place of work2. He represented himself as a lawyer. 3. He threatened legal action against me. 4. He was aware that I had a lawyer and contacted me anyway. 5. He did not provide me with verification of debt. 6. He did not notify me of my right to dispute the debt, except to say if I disputed it I would be taken to court.
