Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Illinois
The original bill from - - - was for - - for my son. It was sent to my ex-husband, and I was not aware that it existed until it was sent to collections and popped up on my credit report in - of -/-/2012 At that time, I contacted the collection agency to find out what this bill was for, as that was the - time that I had been made aware of it. Because no one ever bothered to inform me that the bill existed, they gave me 30 days to pay the bill in full - which I did - and then they removed it from my credit report. I thought the issue was resolved at that time. Now, - years later, it appears that the original collection agency sold the debt to a different collection agency ( - - - ), who is now attempting to extort money out of me for a bill that I have already paid. They are telling me that I need to pay this bill in full within 30 days if I want it taken off my credit report.
