Credit card Taking/threatening an illegal action Threatened arrest/jail if do not pay Texas
I received numerous phone calls from a debt collection company attempting to collect for - Providian credit card as I found out later. I do not know the name of the company that was calling because they were mispresenting themselves as legal representation. The phone number they ( debt collection company ) were calling me from was -. The message this company was leaving on my phone stated. Your social security number has been named in fraudulent activity. You will be summoned at your place of employment or your residence, and you will have - counts of fraud filed against you in your county. If you do not respond you will lose all rights to your legal rights. They then leave a case number and the phone number mentioned above to call. When I called the number it turns out to be this Providian credit card account they are trying to collect for, and nothing to do with any fraudulent activity surrounding social security fraud. When I questioned the representative about this, he merely answered same thing ''. When I asked them to remove my phone number from their list. The representative hung up on me.
