Wells Fargo Debt Collection Complaint

Credit card False statements or representation attempted to collect wrong amount

Wells Fargo Debt collection department,

Credit card False statements or representation Attempted to collect wrong amount California

Wells Fargo Bank reduced the obligation amount owed on a line of credit that became past due when I became - and my private - insurer engaged in fraud (certified by the -). This left me on - so I defaulted on this loan. I have been trying to sell my home to pay of this loan. Last year, Wells Fargo agreed to reduce the balance of the loan.

The settlement letter I have from Wells is dated -/-/- and there is no expiration date on the offer. When I phoned them to ask for a lien modification so they can get the new payoff in escrow after my house sells, they said they wanted to collect the old amount. So I said: Is your letter of -/-/- a lie? They said, yes. This is an allegedly shady move on Wells part to agreed to a lowered amount in a letter which is unenforceable because of the lien on my home. A good faith lender should reduce or eliminate the lien in favor of the negotiated amount in this letter so I can give that to the escrow officer to pay off when the house sells. CFPB helped me with this matter back in -/-/-. It has an old case number, but we need a new case opened up on this. The old case number was used in my letter to you - weeks ago and it resulted in a duplicate. So I will not give you the old case number unless you ask for it. However, with my email address you can see the transaction. Thank you so much for your help. I am trying to settle my debts with the sale of my home I built in 1987. I bought private - insurance so this would not happen, but there is no white collar crime enforcement in this country as respects insurance companies. Thanks for your help. I really am grateful for the CFPB. Best wishes, -
