Wells Fargo & Company Student loan department,

Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't decrease my monthly payments Massachusetts

In - 2016 I responded to a message from Wells Fargo regarding a graduate student loan that would come due in - 2016. I requested re-consideration of the rate of payment or some kind of concession based on my extreme change of circumstance. I recently lost my husband, who was the sole income provider for myself, and my daughter, a -. Wells Fargo suggested a loan modification. I began the process shortly thereafter filling out many forms, documents and sending endless faxes, which was not only demanding at this difficult time in my life, but full of contradictions at all levels of communication. Little in the process was ever transparent. Finally they contacted the co-signer, without my knowledge, well aware that he was a mature man just recovering from a -, I did not wish to burden him. They disregarded this and astoundingly invented a statement they claim he made. Based on this the modification application was denied. I still

The outcome and handling of the process was not only de-moralizing but the result was disturbing. I not only feel that the effort made over many months offered no resolution or compromise and looking back it has been victimising, from the initial hard sell to the onset of re-payment. I was concerned about adverse credit reports regarding the loan and constantly phoned in to discuss this. The advise the modification team gave was that " it would not help my case if I was seen to be making payments '', Based on this, I decided to wait for the written result about the modification application, which I have not yet received. The disregard for my personal situation continues. I now get endless phone calls from the collection department insistencing that the loan is two months over due. It is not. Over the past two weeks I have had about 15 phone calls-today alone 5 calls. Sometimes there are recorded messages asking me to hold the line up to 15 minutes. Often no-one answers. In all of this I only asked for consideration for a lowered monthly payment of $ -- to help me get through this trying period of financial hardship. I am not sure where to go forward from here or where to turn for help.
