Due to the volume of complaints, the FTC cannot respond directly to every complaint. The FTC and other law enforcement agencies analyze complaints to spot trends and to identify and take action against the people responsible for these illegal calls.
What's a Robocall?
If you answer the phone and hear a recorded message instead of a live person, it's a robocall. You've probably gotten robocalls about candidates running for office, or charities asking for donations. These robocalls are allowed. But if the recording is a sales message and you haven't given your written permission to get calls from the company on the other end, the call is illegal. In addition to the phone calls being illegal, their pitch most likely is a scam.

It was a debt consolidation loan for $15000.00 and the rate promised me was 15.41 %. They took out 5 % of the loan as some sort of fee which made the loan amount $14000.00. Consumer Loan managing the loan or lease May 4, 2016 - Prosper took a double payment for - ( despite their notes that " customer accidentally made a double payment '' ) as I have auto withdrawal set up for my account. I called Prosper on or about - - to inquire about the doubled amount of $1300.00. They stated it may take up to 15 days to refund the $660.00. Prosper Marketplace, Inc. Consumer Loan managing the loan or lease March 9, 2016 - Prosper Loans is illegally reporting a past debt that is over 10 years old and I filed bankruptcy on to the credit bureaus. They are changing the dates to make it look like a more current loan so they can keep it negative on my credit. I filed bankruptcy on this debt 10 years ago and even the bankruptcy has been removed from my credit due to reporting time limit of ten years. I contacted prosper and they refuse to fix it and said to contact credit bureaus but they do n't do anything as. Prosper Marketplace, Inc. Consumer Loan managing the loan or lease December 23, 2015 - I have contacted Prosper on several occasions regarding the amount of time it takes for mailed payments to be posted to my account. Because of a recent delay, I encountered fees totaling $40.00. After filing a complaint with the - coupled with information from my financial institution - - -, Prosper agreed to remove the fees. Unfortunately, I have had a difficult time getting Prosper to follow through with their commitment.
