Review and analysis of over 26 complaints against Amex
Amex consumers have reported over 26 official complaints related to Forbearance / Workout plans. Out of the 26 consumer complaints against Amex, 19% were disputed by the consumer (i.e. the consumer was not happy with how Amex responded to their complaint) and 100% were processed in a timely manner. 8% of consumer complaints against Amex resulted in the consumer receiving monetary compensation (e.g. money, cash reimbursement, etc.) and 8% resulted in non-monetary compensation.

Amex Credit card forbearance / workout plans May 28, 2016 - I entered a hardship repayment agreement with American Express through their customer service process over the phone. I was told that I agreement was to make $950.00 a month payments until the debt was paid off and that my account would remain in good standing. American Express accepted the payment but still reported me as delinquent which dropped my credit score, raised my payments with other creditors and increase my hardship.... |

As a self supporter, I immediately contacted them to try and find a resolution to maintain my account through that difficult time. My account had always been in good standing until this event happened. They worked out a plan that was misleading, misguiding, and unfair penalties, substantial rate increases, and broken promises.
