July 6, 2016 - I am the cosigner of my daughter 's loan. I realized in - she was not making all payments on time, and at that time I contacted The National Collegiate Trust, and told them as the cosigner, I needed to know when payments were not made or were late. April 14, 2016 - First, I was given a private loan for $21000.00 that immediately started accruing interest, even though I was n't going to start making payments on it for at least 4 years. Why on earth is that legal??? Second, the bank that issued that loan has since sold it off to American Education Services. I 've been paying this loan for almost 3 years, yet my balance is still higher than the amount I borrowed, AND the principal plus unpaid interest is $6300.00 less than my current balance. April 12, 2016 - The interest rate on my private student loans have been steadily rising every quarter. They have risen more than 1 % in the past year, with the largest now sitting at more than 12 %. At most, they should have only gone up by .25 % to correspond with the Federal Reserve interest rate hike. In reality, the interest on a loan that ca n't be discharged should never increase. March 17, 2016 - I cosigned on my sisters loan for college. Aes told me twice in the last two years after a certain amount of consecutive payments I can be released. When I asked to be released they are now saying that the terms of the loan do n't have an option for me to be removed. I asked for the contract to be sent to me. January 20, 2016 - National Collegiate and trust has been on my Credit report for years now, and I have disputed them several times. They sent me and my mom letters in the mail stating we must pay right away. We sent letters for each one asking to prove this debt, and show us promissary notes. Like most private loans its a standard variable interest non subsidized loan. Currently my balance is $47000.00. November 20, 2015 - I obtained loans through - being service through American Education Services, which I entered repayment in 2008. My original repayment agreement stated a repayment term of 10 years. Recently, I requested a foreberance for 1 month where I noticed that the term had been expanded to 155 months. Further, they have used the forbearance as an opportunity to reset my repayment term. I did not request this and it provides them with an extroordinary interest payment windfall.
