I have asked for the original promissory note multiple times and have never received it. I would like to discontinue paying this loan until I see proof that it is owned by Discover. I 've been trying to refinance my student loan ( at 9.375 % to a lower rate with another lender ) but I 've been getting stonewalled by Discover. I spoke with multiple representatives at Discover requesting " Lenders ' 45-day Payoff statement '' mailed or emailed to me and each time I 'm being told that my request will be emailed up the chain-of-command. After 1-month of multiple requests I called yet again today only to get the same response.
