I have an HSA with - ( Bank of New York Mellon ). I contacted them in - - to find out how much more I could contribute to reach my maximum contribution limit for -. I mailed in a check and last week received an email from them saying I could add more. Thinking that I had already sent in the maximum, I called them to double check on what was going on. They said that the email should n't have gone out, that the check I recently sent in was too much, and that I would have to pay fee to get everything split up and " reclassified '' to the proper years OR they could reclassify the check I sent in for - to - which will cause me to lose out on my maximum contribution for -. Either direction costs me money and I was trying to be proactive to begin with. The people and policies at - - are criminal and derelict. They purposefully dish out incorrect information in an effort to generate fees and have totally failed at any standard of fiduciary duty.
