Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Received bad information about my loan District of Columbia
My private student loans with - - ( now called Navient ) went into default following a period of unemployment. In - 2015, I was contacted by " Navient Recovery '' and told that I could bring my loans into a " Reduced Interest Rate Partial Repayment Plan '' if I made - down payments and continued to make at least minimum monthly payments afterwards until the account was paid off. I have been making these payments since, but as of now, ten months later, Navient - refuses to send me paperwork that verifies the terms of our agreement. My interest rate has not changed, and every month Navient updates my credit report with " debts not paid as agreed. '' Despite months of calls and speaking to " supervisors '' I am unable to speak to anyone at either Navient or Navient - who can either confirm or deny my participation in the program, the terms of this program, and when my account will be changed to a partial-payment agreement status. Messages are left unanswered, and representatives have on several occasions told me they " have no legal obligation to provide me with paperwork '' that discloses the terms of the agreement.
